    Telecommunications Infrastructure

    Western Environmental has been engaged to provide a range of environmental consultancy services to support the design and construction of telecommunications infrastructure at a remote site in northwestern WA.

    The project occurs within a sensitive ecological area that has also been subject to potential contamination related to historical cyclone damage. Works have included preparation of site access and permitting (ECC) documentation, flora and fauna surveys, contaminated land investigations and supervision of intrusive works in high asbestos risk areas.

    Defence Base Runway Upgrade

    Western Environmental was engaged to provide ongoing environmental consultancy services to support its client in the delivery of a major runway upgrade programme at a RAAF base in Queensland.

    Works have included site investigations and data collection to support soil and water management during construction, assistance with Defence permits and data management (ECC and CRAT), compliance monitoring and technical advice.

    Optus Stadium

    Western Environmental was engaged by the primary contractor to design, construct, operate and maintain a groundwater “capture and contain” remediation system comprising a 480 m groundwater dewatering array and multi-stage treatment system to adjust pH, remove suspended solids, metals and a range of organic contaminants that were mobilised as a result of ground improvement works to augment stadium construction. Abstracted water was successfully treated and subsequently re-used during construction, thereby avoiding off-site discharge or disposal.

    During subsequent phases of the project, Western Environmental were engaged client-side as expert advisors in relation to contamination and ASS management and were responsible for contractor oversight, review of consultant and contractor reports/plans and documents, auditing of contractor performance for compliance with project documentation and regulatory guidelines, and preparation of project close-out reports.
